Sydney analogue collective Bad Teeth are back from the future to interpret (via electronic music and samplers) the future they have already  seen.

They have travelled far and wide through time, having spent the early 1980’s in Detroit via Germany, the 90’s in London, then the 2020’s voyaging through space with Devo and Afrika Bambaataa on a spaceship painted by Ken Done.

Let Bad Teeth show you that the future is far more synthetic than you ever realised.

LADY GAGA AT WOW!

“Who’s that lady? She’s 20. She’s a songwriter. She’s a singer. She’s a pianist. And sheez-a-crazy. A RETRO, DANCE, FREAK. She has ears made of classic-rock, a voice of the 60s, the moves of a Brit-Disco queen, and a heart made of doo-wop and strawberry milkshakes. If she had it her way, retro would be a noun, and pop just a cute name for soda–not a dirty word. She’s a tiny person with a big voice and a lot of love to spread. GaGa was chosen by the Songwriters Hall of Fame, to be one of nine performers in the 2006 New Songwriters Showcase. At this live performance, dancing at the piano in her trade-mark spanky pants and black eyeliner–the hypothetical lovechild of David Bowie and Jerry Lee Lewis–LADY GAGA, was discovered. Almost overnight, GaGa signed a production contract with Sony’s multi-platinum producer, Rob Fusari. Her debut album is is a hip-hop infused pop-lovers dream. Combining her love of Beatles’ melodies with retro dance beats, plastic synth sounds, and a corky rock piano style that solidifies her as a true drama-QUEEN. Not to mention her voice. Well, we suggest just listen for yourself. Peace, Love, & Disco. TEAM LOVE CHILD a.k.a the very first gagas.” – http://www.purevolume.com/ladygaga

Lady Gaga will be performing at WOW on the 27th of September. Dress code: Leather and lace, fur and vinyl.

DRE SKULL TOUR!

The name Dre Skull may not immediately strike a chord but the frequencies and music he produces certainly will. In electronic music every sound, every beat and every vocal is judged on the dance-floor. Along with Juiceboxxx, the duo’s Sweat release gathered massive support and airplay that resulted in Mixmag licensing the track for a cover CD. Sweat was also snapped up by the Bang Gang DJs’ Light Sound Dance compilation (on Modular Records). Dre Skull and Juiceboxxx have continued to deliver some much needed flavour to the West Coast USA with their bouncy house/hip hop anthems.

But it is Skull’s remixes of tracks from the classic Motown era that have become a staple for many. A fine example is his bumpin’ and grinding reworking of Michael Jackson’s I Want You Back and his chopped up rework/mash-up of Ol’ Dirty Bastard and The Kingsmen.

No matter what way you look at it, Brooklyn based Dre Skull has taken his high octane DJ sets from super-clubs to warehouses across the world, performing in China, Japan, Mexico and throughout Europe.

Known for mixing and splicing genres from numerous decades, Skull’s philosophy is to jack up past and present sounds that combine to make something altogether original. Think pure infectious vocals that are a mix of early house and disco. The future for Dre Skull is more singles, varied collaborations and more remixes. The future is looking damn good. Soon Dre Skull will be at a location near you.
